The Shipman Project started out back in the year of 2006. Back then it wasn't known by the same name, rather its first incarnation of 'Bitter Cause'. Neither did it consist of all the members which make it up today: Originally Adam, Aidan, Andy and Rowen all went to the same high school and having all played their respective instruments for a considerable amount of time either in other bands or solo, decided to get together after school to produce music. Shortly afterwards Niall joined up having already been a friend of Adam beforehand, and so Bitter Cause was born!
After a good year of forging unique and fresh sounds together Rowen left to pursue new musical ventures and to start university, and so Allan was invited on board. As a masterful drummer he had no trouble picking up where Rowen left off. By the time summer came around Andy had to move away to go to university so Ste was invited on board to fill the void and has since proved to be a superb inspiration, bringing many new ideas into the group. It was shortly after that Bitter Cause went through a bit of an identity crisis and became The Shipman Project.
We have been going from strength to strength ever since then: Making new music, playing new venues, pushing the boundaries to bring you a truly unforgettable musical experience!
Introducing, the band themselves:
Niall (Vocals) is most definitely a man of many talents, in addition to his obvious stage presence he also professes in the electric guitar and bass. If that wasn't enough, he just so happens to be an expert sound engineer and can get even the ropiest setup sounding mint before you can say "Dillinger"!
His musical influences include (amongst others): Dillinger Escape Plan, Iron Monkey, Cannibal Corpse, ICP, Primus, Berzerker, Portishead, My Dying Bride, Tool and Anal Cunt.

Adam "Higgy" (Guitar) is our ingenious guitar player and is largely responsible for bringing all the members of The Shipman Project together in the first place. Often being the glue that keeps our music together, he has strong forte in the art of power metal and crunchy riffs.
Musical influences include: Iron Maiden, Dark Tranquility, Cradle of Filth, In Flames, At the Gates, Dimmu Borgir, Machine Head and From First to Last.
Allan "Fluff" (Drums) is a guy who's showmanship is clear to see despite usually being stuck at the back of the stage! Occasionally joining in with shouts and screams to accompany Niall it's well worth coming to one of our gigs simply to be entertained by his performance!
Musical influences include: Travis Barker, Incubus, Funeral for a Friend, Norma Jean, From First to Last, Bob Marley and Jack Johnson.
Ste "Sexfish" (Bass) should be thanked for being the source of imaginativeness behind a lot of the stranger and darker sides to The Shipman Project. Only a man with a vivid imagination and vision could put such a unique spin on the music we play.
Musical influences include: NIN, A Perfect Circle, Phil Collins, Sting, Reef, Murder Dolls and Rage Against the Machine. |
Aidan (Keyboards), a self-confessed geek who is the reason you're reading this right now. Having previously come from a more classical musical background he brings more of a harmonic contribution to the group.
Musical influences include: Steely Dan (Donald Fagen), Pink Floyd, Ben Folds, Karl Jenkins, Vangelis, Yes and Aphex Twin.
